Anthony Hudson, who served as head coach of the U.S. men's national team for the first five months of 2023, has signed a two-year deal with Qatar's Al-Markhiya SC.
Al-Markhiya SC, based in Doha, was the first team ever promoted to the Stars League and finished seventh out of 12 teams in 2022-23, its first season in the top-flight.
The 2023-24 Stars League begins in August, so there was some urgency to get Hudson on board as soon as possible.
Hudson was an assistant on the U.S. World Cup team that reached the second round in Qatar. Another assistant,
B.J. Callaghan, has taken over for Hudson to coach the USA at the Concacaf Nations League (June 15-18) and Gold Cup (June 24-July 16) while the search for a men's head coach continues.
Hudson is no stranger to the Gulf. He coached Bahrain's under-23 national team and then its senior national team in 2012-14.
Best of Luck...
