    1. Christian Pulisic scored the first goal, assisted on the second and was fouled for the winning penalty kick as Borussia Dortmund escaped with a 3-2 overtime win over second division Union Berlin at home in the second round of the German Cup. Marco Reus converted the spot kick in the 121st minute. In the first round, Reus' winning goal against second division Greuther Fuerth came in the 120th minute.

    2. The Houston Dynamo's first offseason signing is 17-year-old defender Erik McCue, signed from the Dynamo Academy to a Homegrown Player contract. He was the Dynamo U-17s' MVP in 2018, a year after moving to Houston. McCue was born in Sweden and lived in Europe, Asia and Washington, D.C. He is eligible to represent the United States or Sweden.

    3. Dan Metzger is among three more new arrivals for Memphis 901 FC for its inaugural 2019 USL Championship season. Metzger won the USL title with the New York Red Bulls II in 2016 and played for the MLS Red Bulls in 2017. Also signed were defender Louis Bennett and forward Luca Uccello, joining Raul Gonzalez, Wes Charpie and Josh Morton.
