  • What's in the news ...

    1. Jordan Morris will be staying with the Seattle Sounders beyond 2019 when his current Homegrown Players contract expires. Paul Tenorio of The Athletic reported that the 24-year-old Morris, who was sidelined with a torn ACL for the entire 2018 season, will sign a new contract that could keep him in Seattle for up to five years with three years guaranteed and pay him an average of roughly $1 million per year if he plays all five seasons.

    2. The second edition of the Campeon de Campeones will be hosted by the 2018 MLS Cup winner on Aug. 14, 2019. The cup is the first of what is expected to be several events on which MLS and Liga MX will work together. Tigres beat host Toronto FC, 3-1, in the 2018 Campeon de Campeones.

    3. Forward Madison FC signed a one-year affiliation agreement with Minnesota United for the 2019 season. The partnership will allow the Loons, who do not have a USL second team, to loan players to Madison in the new USL League One. Forward Madison FC also announced that it signed 25-year-old Panamanian midfielder Josiel Nunez (14 caps) on a loan deal from Panamanian club CD Universitario.
