  • What's in the news ...

    1. Mark Geiger, who refereed at the last two men's World Cups, has retired to become PRO's director of senior match officials. He will oversee the work of MLS officials, leading the PRO staff in coaching education and working on improving on-field and Video Review crews who work in MLS. In his 21-year career, Geiger also worked in the last three Gold Cups and the 2012 Olympics.

    2. Guillermo Barros Schelotto's twin brother, Gustavo, will join him on the LA Galaxy coaching staff. Dominic Kinnear, the interim coach for the last two months of the 2018 season, will stay on as another assistant coach. The third assistant will be Ariel Pereyra, who worked with Guillermo Barros Schelotto in Argentina.

    3. Boston College hired Wake Forest women's associate head coach Jason Lowe as its new women's head coach, replacing longtime women's head coach Alison Foley, who resigned her post after 22 seasons. Lowe is the third assistant under Wake head coach Tony da Luz to earn a head coaching position in recent years after Tim Santoro (hired at NC State in 2012) and Megan Jessee (Rhode Island in 2017).
