    Notable: Dominican Republic, which faces USA in Sunday's Concacaf U-20 Men's Championship final, has advanced to 2023 Under-20 World Cup and 2024 Olympics. marking the first time it's ever qualified for a FIFA world championship.

  • Weekend News: Major League Soccer

    • Sounders win MLS Cup 2019 rematch. In its first meeting with Toronto FC since 2019, Seattle defeated the Reds, 2-0, at BMO Field thanks to goals by Dylan Teves, his first career MLS goal in his first league start, and Fredy Montero. The Sounders, now in fourth place in the Western Conference, rested four starters, leaving them in Seattle.

    - Late winner. Paraguayan Andres Cubas scored his first MLS goal in the 89th minute to give Vancouver a 1-0 win over Supporters' Shield leader LAFC. (Video)

  • Americans Abroad: Summer movement

     - Ethan Horvath is loaned to Luton Town. Promoted Premier League club Nottingham Forest has loaned Horvath to the Championship's Luton Town. The move follows the signing of Manchester United's Dean Henderson on a season-long loan as the replacement for outgoing Forest starter Brice Samba.
    - Career: Horvath, 27, joined Forest in 2021 on a free transfer from Belgian champion Club Brugge, where he was stuck behind veteran Simon Mignolet. He made only 11 appearances as the backup to Brice Samba, helping Forest reach the FA Cup quarterfinals. He started his European career with Norway's Molde.
    - New club: In the need for playing time to make the U.S. World Cup team, Horvath will battle for the starting job at Luton Town, which used six goalkeepers in 2021-22 and recently acquired Matt Macey from Hibernian.
