Winless Colorado has signed Jamaican international Darryl Powell, who has played for Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham City, Derby County and Portsmouth.The 31-year-old midfielder is expected to join the team as soon as he receives his work permit from the United States government.Powell, who played for Jamaica in the 1998 World Cup, made more than 300 appearances in the English League. Press reports out of Spain indicate that American John O'Brien is among the players being pursued by Spanish giant Barcelona.O'Brien, 25, who plays left back for Ajax Amsterdam, reportedly has one year left on his contract with the Dutch club.Barcelona is also interested in Ajax's Australian goalkeeper Joey Didulica, Dutch defender Jaap Staam (Lazio) and Australian forward Harry Kewell (Leeds).

U.S. U-17 national team star Freddy Adu, who turns 14 on Monday, will be represented by the same agency that negotiates for national team coach Bruce Arena and forward Landon Donovan.In announcing the agreement, SportsNet, LLC, whose principals are Richard Motzkin and Dan Segal, also confirmed that Adu has inked an endorsement deal with Nike.SportsNet would not comment on the financial terms of the Nike deal, which the Washington Post reported was worth $1 million.Adu was born in Ghana, immigrated to the United States in 1997, and received U.S. citizenship in February 2003.
