By Ridge Mahoney, Senior Editor Soccer America Magazine Sources at Anschutz Entertainment Group and reports in the Houston press confirm that the long-negotiated purchase of the San Jose Earthquakes by Grupo Televisa, the Mexican conglomerate that counts Mexican team Club America among its holdings, has been finalized contingent upon the decision on where the team will play.The surprise, though, is not that the deal has been completed, nor that the Quakes will play in Houston next season. American DANNY KARBASSIYOON, a 20-year-old Virginia product, has signed with English second-tier club Burnley. Karbassiyoon was waived in May by Arsenal, which he joined 2003. In the 2004-05 season, he made two League Cup appearances for Arsenal, scoring once, and five league appearances while on loan to second-tier Ipswich. ...The MetroStars have acquired defender RYAN SUAREZ off waivers. Suarez, 27, was waived by Chivas USA on Monday following a televised sideline row with Coach Hans Westerhof on Saturday. Suarez has played 100 MLS games for Chivas USA, Los Angeles and Dallas in his five-year career.
