U.S. Soccer names Girls DA Technical Advisors

The U.S. Soccer Girls Development Academy, which kicks off its first season in September, has named its first five Technical Advisors, who are charged with developing scouting networks and evaluating and aiding DA clubs in their region.

For the first time in history, the USA will arrive at the U-20 World Cup as Concacaf champion, having beaten defending champ Mexico, 1-0, en route to the regional final, in which it prevailed over Honduras in PKs after a scoreless tie.

In the months before helping the USA qualify for the 2017 U-17 World Cup, striker Andrew Carleton and Christopher Goslin played their soccer with men. Both had signed Homegrown contracts with MLS's Atlanta United last year and left the U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida, to train under Coach Tata Martino.

A strong case can be made that the USA's qualifying campaign for the 2017 U-17 World Cup was its most impressive appearance ever of the 18 Concacaf U-17 Championships it's played in. The only blemish for Coach John Hackworth's team, after five straight wins, was the penalty-kick shootout loss to Mexico in the final after a 1-1 tie.

USA faces Mexico in Concacaf U-17 final with chance for first-ever U-17 and U-20 sweep.

In March, the Tab Ramos-coached USA won the Concacaf U-20 Championship. On Sunday, the USA has a chance to take the regional U-17 title for the first ever USA sweep of the two competitions when Coach John Hackworth's team faces Mexico in the final in Panama.

Captain Sargent leads remarkable U.S. U-17 run

In its four games, so far, in U-17 World Cup qualifying, the USA trailed only once, after giving up a sixth-minute goal against Mexico. Twenty minute later, U.S. captain Josh Sargent scored the most impressive, and perhaps the most important, of his five goals.
