Buenos Aires municipal workers had begun the task of repairing a bronze statue of Lionel Messi that was smashed by vandals. The bronze statue, unveiled last June after he “retired”from the national team, was broken in half, and the torso, arms and head removed. Other statues on the Paseo de la Gloria have been vandalized in the past.
