• Emanuel Reynoso gets new three-year Designated Player contract. The Argentine immediately became one of MLS’s best players upon his arrival at Minnesota United in 2020 when he made MLS history with three assists in back-to-back playoff games. In 2022, he has 10 goals and 10 assists, making him one of only three players with double-digit goals and assists. Reynoso, 26, also leads the league in successful dribbles with 128.
• Shea Salinas plans to retire after 2022 season. Salinas, 36, has played 15 seasons in MLS, two in San Jose, one each in Philadelphia and Vancouver and the last 11 back with the Earthquakes. He ranks 10th in MLS history in games played (374). In a statement, Salinas said his 15 years in pro soccer “was 15 more years than I had ever expected.”
