[AROUND THE COUNTRY] Marc Cintron scored two goals to lead Providence to a 2-1 win at West Virginia, the Friars’ thirdstraight win in Big East play.
Cintron gave the Friars a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute, but the Mountaineers wasted little time tying the match after the break as Nick Claudio struck a volley from 25 yards out and into the upper right corner for his first career goal in the 47th minute. Cintron clinched the Friars’ fourth consecutive win over WestVirginia with a right-footed shot from 25 yards in the 87th minute.
“Marc has always been a great setup guy, but tonight he took responsibility on his shoulders and scored twogreat goals,” Providence coach Chaka Daley said. “He was very good tonight.”
