Eric Wynalda is the new head coach and technical director of the Las Vegas Lights, whose first season in the USL ended with an 8-19-7 record and 15th-place finish in the 17-teamWestern Conference. Wynalda previously coached Cal FC to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals in 2012, served as technical director for NASL’s Atlanta Silverbacks in 2013 when they won the NASLspring championship, and in 2017 coached the LA Wolves to a UPSL title. His previous coaching stints came while he also served as analyst for Fox Sports, a career he put on hold when he ran for U.S.Soccer President in the election won by Carlos Cordeiro last February.
