Ten members of Eritrea’s national team are reported to be seeking asylum in Botswana, where the team had traveled this week to play a World Cup qualifying game. The players had refused to board theirflight home Wednesday and have been detained by police. Eritrea players also defected. At least 45 members of the national team have defected in recent years.
