[BIG EAST: Men] No. 4 Georgetown and No. 8 Creighton dropped their first Big East games of the season when they fell at Xavier and Marquette, respectively, onSaturday.

Georgetown suffered its first loss in the past nine games with a 2-1 decision at Xavier.

The Hoyas opened the scoring in the 31st minute on a goal by Brandon Allen, but the Musketeers got the equalizer from Wes Walker on a long pass from Garrett Halfhill right before the break. Xavier dominated the second half and was rewarded in the 74th minute as Walker connected to make it 2-1.

“Tonight was a tough one,”said Georgetown coach Brian Wiese. “After Brandon scored a great goal, they got a lucky one just before the half which really changed the complexion of thegame. Credit to Xavier, they played a great game and handled some things that we didn’t.”

Marquette’s C. Nortney scored in the 23rd minuteoff a cross from left back Paul Dillon to give Marquette the 1-0 win. It was his seventh goal of the season and fourth straight game winner for the GoldenEagles.
