Lionel Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, has sent a letter to the court that is investigating them both for tax evasion that seeks to absolve the Barcelonastriker of any responsibility in the management of his tax obligations. Jorge handed the letter over when he paid the $6.65 million that the pair owed the Tax Office for suspected tax evasion between2007 and 2010.
In the letter, Jorge claims Leo “has always been dedicated solely to playing soccer” and blames his former business partner Rodolfo Schinocco, whowas in charge of his son’s image rights. Nevertheless, both Messis still stand accused of tax fraud and will be forced to appear before a judge on Sept. 27.
