[WOMEN’S SOCCER] ACC teams claimed all four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Division I Women’s Tournament: conference champion Florida State, the automatic qualifier, andVirginia, Virginia Tech and defending champion North Carolina.
The ACC and the Big Ten lead all conferences with eight teams in the tournament,while six will advance from the Pac-12 and SEC.
North Carolina is the only team to have been invited to every one of the 32 women’s championships.
There are five first-timeteams: Arkansas, Iowa, Seattle, South Alabama, UMBC.
First-round matches will be played at campus sites Saturday and Sunday.

HOW DOES PENN STATE GET SEEDED AND WEST VIRGINIA DOES NOT?
No Ric, they play the first round regionally so as to reduce the travel expense. The effect is that good teams in the same area of the country knock themselves off in the early rounds.
Again, I cannot for the life of me figure out why UNC was awarded #1 seed; 2, 3, 4 maybe!!!
