Seattle Reign FC moved into first place in the NWSL with a 3-0 win over Portland Thorns FC in front of 6,303 fans on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
Jessica Fishlock put Seattle ahead late in the second half, and Beverly Yanez added the final two goals for Seattle less than five minutesinto the second half, the second after getting on the end of forward Megan Rapinoe’s cross near the goal line.
In the starting lineup for the first time since returning from the 2015 Women’s World Cup, German goalkeeper and captain NadineAngerer finished the match with six saves. Hope Solo, out with what was described as a minor injury, has not played for Seattle since the World Cup.Haley Kopmeyer earned the shutout for Seattle.
