[TEXAS A&M WOMEN] Aggie Soccer Stadium, site of three Women’s College Cups in the last six years, will be renamed Ellis Field following a large donationfrom Julia and Mark Ellis, parents of three Texas A&M students, that has allowed for extensive improvements to the Texas A&M soccer stadium.

The Ellises pledged their donation of $1 million over a year ago to be put toward improvements to the stadium, including upgrades to each section of bleachers.

A public restroomfacility will be completed in the southwest corner of the stadium in mid-October and permanent roof structures over parts of the east and west grandstands will be constructed in 2012.

“I’m really excited about all of the incredible upgrades being done to the stadium and am thankful for the overwhelming generosity of Julia and Mark Ellis,” Aggie head coach G Guerrieri said. “Their incredible gift has made all of these positive changes possible.”

Construction crews broke ground at Ellis Field in June, and have workedcontinuously throughout the summer to be ready for the 2011 season. The bleachers on each side of the stadium have been restructured to improve seating for fans.

The west grandstand hasbeen expanded from 400 to 700 reserved seats, and each ticket holder in that area will now be able to enjoy the match from a chair-back seat.
