[WOMEN’S ROUNDUP: Sunday] No. 1 UCLA posted its second consecutive 3-0 win, downing UC Irvine. In wins over Maryland and Anteaters, the defending champions haveoutshot their opponents, 44-1.
UCLA goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland, who has yet to have to make a save, tied the school record with her 38th careershutout. Sam Mewis had a goal and an assist, and forwards Taylor Smith and DarianJenkins each scored a goal for the Bruins.
“The first half we were a little bit stagnant and slow, but in the second half we did a better job of being a little morecreative,” said UCLA head coach Amanda Cromwell. “It was tough, though, because they had a lot of numbers behind the ball, and the seamsweren’t quite there that we’re used to seeing.”

— No. 19 UCF, whose opener at FGCU was canceled because of bad weather, edged Miami, Fla., 2-1, on apair of goals by Tatiana Coleman in a match at the UCF Soccer Complex, where temperatures reached 106 degrees.
