Good morning! Dallas – the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, or Jerry World, in Arlington – will be the host this week to the Concacaf Nations League final four, which begins tonight. It will be the site of the USA’s opening game at the Copa America in June and will host nine games – the most of any city – at the 2026 World Cup. The rise of Dallas soccer is the story of the rise of American soccer, beginning with the introduction of pro soccer in the late 1960s. SA’s Mike Woitalla chronicles that story, beginning with the first game he attended with his soccer-loving dad, Horst, in Dallas, a 1970 Tornado friendly against Hertha Berlin that drew 1,900 fans.
