Gio Reyna embraces leadership role

It’s been nearly six years since 23-year-old Giovanni Reyna debuted for the U.S. national team. When he earned his 45th cap in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over Chile it marked the first time he started back-to-back USMNT games in more than two years. Reyna, the only player Mauricio Pochettino started against Peru and Chile, set up goals in both wins. After Tuesday’s win in St. Louis, Reyna talked about relating to his new, younger teammates.

Mathis Albert makes history in USMNT’s thrilling win over Chile

After goals by Sebastian Berhalter, Julian Hall and Chris Richards, 17-year-old Mathis Albert scored the USA’s fourth in its 4-2 win over Chile in St . Louis on Tuesday to become the youngest scorer in USMNT history. Afterward, Albert spoke of how Gio Reyna, now the fourth youngest USMNT scorer, helped him out at Borussia Dortmund and spending time with the U.S. team during the 2026 World Cup.
