[VERONA CAMP] U.S. under-20 national team coach Tab Ramos has called up 22 players — the majority of them pros in MLS orEurope — for a camp that begins Sunday in Verona, Italy. The U.S. will play against Hellas Verona Primavera, Iran’s U-20 national team and a yet-to-be-confirmed opponent.
“This is purelya camp where we can get a better idea of where our players are,” Ramos told ussoccer.com. “They are all players who are getting great experiences, and this particular camp gives us a good chance tosee them in an international camp, playing in an international environment, which will give us a good idea of what these players can do.”
Four of the MLS players have made theirfirst-team debuts: Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas), Marco Delgado (Chivas USA), MatthewMiazga (New York Red Bulls), and Amando Moreno (New York Red Bulls).
The European contigent has four players each from England and Germany,two from Noreay and one from France. Of the European players, one has made his first-team debut: forward Ben Spencer of reigning Norwegian champion Molde.
