Tracy Seipel reports that 10 years after San Jose taxpayers approved funding to build a regional soccer complex,the end may be in sight. A 10-acre parcel of city-owned land adjacent to the new San Jose Earthquakes training field and close to a proposed Earthquakes stadium is the likely location.
Next month, the city council is scheduled to vote on an environmental impact report on the privately built Earthquakes stadium. Team owner Lew Wolff had planned to openthe stadium by 2012, but the economic downturn has put that timeline on hold.
