Alberto Zaccheroni stepped down as coach of Japan on Wednesday, taking full responsibility for the Asian champions’ first round exit at the World Cup. Japan’s poorcampaign in Brazil ended with a heavy 4-1 defeat by eventual group winner Colombia. The Japanese ultimately finished bottom of Group C with 1 point from three games. Japan will next defend its AsianCup title in Australia in January.
