• Cavan Sullivan (Philadelphia Union)
Cavan Sullivan might be the best player in MLS right now. The 16-year-old phenom was transformative in Philadelphia’s 5-0 win over San Diego, scoring twice, picking up a secondary assist for another, and putting in a couple tackles more worthy of a battle-hardened holding midfielder than a young attacker.
In under 1,400 minutes, Sullivan has a ridiculous six goals and 11 assists. Those are crazy numbers for any player, let alone a 16-year-old kid playing his first consistent minutes at the first-team level. It’s been 10 regular-season games without a loss for the Union, who are absolutely flying and have gone from outside the playoffs to looking like a real contender. A whole lot of that comes down to Cavan Sullivan.
