The Japanese soccer association (JFA) has said it will stand by national team coach Javier Aguirre despite reports claiming that the former Mexico manager is being investigated forgame-fixing. Spain is investigating Aguirre and some 30 others for allegedly trying to fix a La Liga game between Real Zaragoza, which Aguirre was coaching at the time, and Levante in May 2011. Thegame, won 2-1 by Zaragoza, saved both clubs from relegation. Said JFA chairman Kuniya Daini: “[Aguirre] himself says it’s not a problem and there’s nothing we can do but believe him.”
