Liverpool captain Steve Gerrard is on his way to the USA. The 34-year-old on Saturday revealed his decision to join MLS at the end of the season, but was quick to add that he would join anas-yet unnamed team. ESPN on Monday reported that Gerrard will join the LA Galaxy on an 18-month contract worth $6 million peryear, although neither side would confirm the rumor.

During an interview that appeared on LFCTV on Saturday, Gerrard said he had been through an “emotional” 24 hours since announcing hisdeparture. “People will have their own opinions on it, but for me I think come the summer, it will be the right time to move on and try something different — come out of the club and the city andhave a look in for a short while and hopefully have the opportunity to return,” he said, adding: “The last game and the last couple of training sessions are going to be torture, because it’s so toughto say ‘goodbye.’ But hopefully it’s more of a ‘see you soon’ rather than a ‘goodbye.’”
