Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says 18-year-old American Cameron Carter-Vickers deserves a shot in the starting lineup, given his play in preseason against teams like AtleticoMadrid, Juventus and Inter Milan. Carter-Vickers has dressed four all four EPL games ahead of Austrian international Kevin Wimmer and should play next week in the English League Cupagainst Gillingham if he doesn’t play on Sunday against Sunderland.
“I believe that Cameron is doing well,” Pochettino said. “If you watch the games against Atletico Madrid, Juventus,Inter Milan again, I think he deserves to play in the starting XI.
“He can give to the team better quality than another player. It’s for that [he’s named on the bench]. All my decisionsare because I think a player can give more things than another player. It’s for that that I picked him on the bench.”
