But Liverpool, which ultimately outshot Villarreal 15-5, surged in the second half, when goals by Fabinho, Luis Díaz and Sadio Mané  earned the EPL club a 3-2 second-leg, UEFA Champions League semifinal win to advance 5-2 on aggregate.
