• Michigan Stars win first championship. The Stars won the 2022 NISA title with a 1-0 win over visiting Albion San Diego before 1,100 fans at Bowie Stadium. The lone goal was scored by Anthony Bowie in the first half. The Stars’ victory gives Michigan teams all three championships. Detroit City FC won in 2020-21 and 2021 before moving to the USL Championship. The Stars are one of only four teams from the 2020 launch still playing in NISA, which finished its third year with only eight teams after Valley United FC and Bay Cities FC were forced to withdraw.
