WOMEN’S SOCCER: UEFA Champions League entrants
Eighteen teams have qualified for the UEFA Women’s Champions League’s league phase. It will be the second season of the expanded Champions League (18 teams, up from 16 in the group phase). Each team will play six games. Teams will learn their opponents on Friday. Schedules will be released on Saturday.

On Decision Day, Manchester City agreed to sign Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea in a blockbuster £145 million deal ($168 million) that equals the British transfer record. The transfer fee ranks as the highest fee paid during the summer window that closed in Europe’s big 5 countries on Tuesday and ranks as the fourth all-time highest fee. Manchester City and Tottenham each had three player moves on the top 10 list dominated by Premier League clubs.
