Fire boss Frank Yallop said the move became necessary in order to get to cap compliant by March 1, andBerry, who had started 62 straight games for the Fire, became expendable after Chicago picked up center backs Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Patrick Ianni from the Seattle Sounders.
