Javier Hernandez, who has scored 17 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions since moving from Manchester United for Bayer Leverkusen, says he left United because its manager, DutchmanLouis van Gaal, told him he only had a “one percent chance of playing.”

In the interview with Movistar+, Chicharito also said, “I felt confident from the very first day. I feelimportant, not just because of my goals, but because I feel that I’ll start every game.”

He also says he has fond memories of Alex Ferguson, who brought him to United fromGuadalajara in 2010.

“I had a great time there. I had an incredible start, full of opportunities, although those opportunities dwindled over time and things took a turn for the worse,”Hernandez added. “I’m so grateful to Ferguson. I think he’s the best there’s ever been, especially his squad management skills.”
