Newly promoted English Premier League club Hull City’s transfer fee for 18-year-old Australian defender Lucas Herrington from the Colorado Rapids, with add-ons, can reportedly exceed $20 million. The Rapids acquired Herrington from the Brisbane Roar for the 2026 MLS season for a fee that earned the Australian club $1 million.

The Rapids, without disclosing the amount, announced the transfer fee for Herrington set a club record and is the largest paid for a defender from an MLS club. MLS’s web site reported the fee as: $23 million ($17 million base) plus a sell-on percentage.
