Good morning! It will be 15 years between when an MLS soccer stadium was first proposed for Queens — in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park — and when a stadium will finally open – in Willets Points. Yesterday’s vote by New York’s City Council paves the way for NYCFC’s stadium, scheduled to be completed in 2027. That leaves the New England Revolution as the only MLS team actively seeking its own soccer stadium. The Revs have played in Foxboro since 1996 but as far back as 2007 there was talk of a soccer stadium being built in Boston’s urban core. In April, renderings were released for a Revolution stadium to be built in Everett, though a bruising political battle is underway in Massachusetts.
