Good morning! Today is an historic day for American soccer. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held this morning at the site of U.S. Soccer’s new National Training Center and Headquarters in Fayette County, Georgia. Attendees will include Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Atlanta United owner Arthur M. Blank as well as federation officials. Blank’s $50 million contribution will cover only a fraction of the cost of the project estimated to be about $300 million. The federation has come a long way in the last four decades after being bankrupt and operating out of a hotel room near New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport in the mid-1980s.
