Good morning! On Friday, U.S. Soccer’s board of directors approved the USL Super League’s application for Division I women’s pro league membership. The league will launch in August with eight teams, increasing the number of Division 1 women’s pro teams operating in the United States to 22. The Super League has plans to expand in 2025-26, and the NWSL will add 15th and 16th teams in 2026. Two other women’s groups have plans to launch lower-division pro leagues. As recently as four years ago, the NWSL had only nine teams, and women’s pro soccer had an uncertain future. No more.
