Good morning! Soccer is often criticized for organizing too many tournaments and handing out too many trophies. One of the hardest competitions to comprehend is the Europa Conference League, not to be confused with the Europa League. (Next season it will get a new name: UEFA Conference League.) UEFA’s goal in starting the competition three years ago was, in theory, to give teams from smaller soccer countries a chance to compete for a trophy. Case in point: Olympiakos became the first Greek club ever to win a European title yesterday with a 1-0 overtime defeat of Rocco Commisso’s Fiorentina.
