Good morning! Tim Howard will be the 14th goalkeeper to enter the National Soccer Hall of Fame when ceremonies are held on May 4 to induct him along with Francisco Marcos, Josh McKinney and Tisha Venturini-Hoch. Howard succeeded a string of goalkeeping legends, all Hall of Famers, on the USMNT: fellow New Jerseyan Tony Meola, Brad Friedel and Kasey Keller. On a media call this week to promote the ceremonies in Frisco, Howard said Meola had a big influence on his career: “Back in 1990, here I am a kid and I’m just reading Soccer America, seeing Tony on the cover. Then trying to dive around in a goalkeeper kit that he wore and idolizing this guy. And lo and behold, I got a chance to work with him.”
