In our continuing series on U.S. Soccer’s “Innovate to Grow” grant program, SA’s Dan Woog writes about Get on the Bus, a program created by Tim Ryerson, the associate executive director of McLean (Virginia) Youth Soccer. There’s a lot of attention to barriers like pay-to-play, the cost of soccer equipment and lack of playing fields. But a more fundamental obstacle is how to get players to those teams and fields in the first place.
