MLB players who invested in USL teams include Tyler Ross (Oakland), Tommy Pham (Loudoun United), Brandon McCarthy (Phoenix) and Torii Hunter (Northern Colorado). The USL Championship now has its first former MLB star with a controlling interest in a team: José Bautista, who purchased the Las Vegas Lights.
