
Good morning! While the NWSL has grabbed lots of headlines, the USWNT has turned to Europe for an increasing number of players – six on the SheBelieves Cup roster released yesterday. Emma Hayes’ influence, no doubt. Lindsey Horan and Catarina Macario, 2022 UEFA Champions League winners with Lyon, were trailblazers of sorts when they moved to Europe after turning pro. The NWSL’s Under-18 Entry Mechanism, launched in 2023, is picking up momentum, but the lure of Europe’s top clubs is strong. They are so loaded with international talent that the day-to-day competition they offer is a powerful selling point.
