[U.S. OPEN CUP] In their first-ever cup match, the New York Cosmos beat the Brooklyn Italians, 2-0, to set up a fourth-round match with the New York Red Bulls inthe Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, but two other NASL clubs fell at the first hurdle. The Tampa Bay Rowdies were pounded by USL PRO leader Orlando City, 4-1, and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers fell inovertime to the PDL’s Laredo Heat, 3-2.
