Brandon Servania gets call-up to Puerto Rico national team

Brandon Servania, who was capped for the USA in January after playing in the 2019 U-20 World Cup, has been called up by Puerto Rico for a January camp to prepare for the start of World Cup 2022 qualifying in March.

The FC Dallas midfielder is one of 28 players who were called up. Younger brother Jaden Servania, who plays for their hometown team, the Birmingham Legion, in the USL Championship, was also called up. The other MLS player picked was Houston Dynamo defender Zarek Valentin, who played for the U.S. U-20s and U-23s.

The squad also includes players from the USL Championship, USL League One, NPSL and U.S. college and youth ranks. Eight players play abroad, including four at Satelite Norte, a new Bolivian second division club based in Santa Cruz.

Puerto Rico will train in the Dominican Republic Jan. 10-20. It will face the Dominican Republic national team in a friendly on Jan. 19 and then head to Guatemala for games against the Guatemalan national team Jan. 23 and Jan. 26.

Puerto Rico will face Trinidad & Tobago, St. Kitts & Nevis, Guyana and Bahamas in the preliminary round of World Cup 2022 qualifying.

    What is The Puerto Rico National Team?   I was not avware that non-nations have "national teams?  Will this prevent him from playing on The US National team, if asked?

    Since puerto rico is a territory it still has it's national teams.  That being said if rules were really followed you would have a UK national team and not England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
