The U.S. flight through the group stage of the 2017 Gold Cup — with trips to Nashville, Tampa and Cleveland — was bumpy but ended the way it usually does with the hosts on top of their group. Butthe stats were certainly much more favorable than at the 2015 Gold Cup, where the USA was outshot in all three games, signaling trouble to come in the knockout round.
