The USA’s friendly against South Korea on Saturday in the Red Bulls’ stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, is a homecoming for France-based Tim Weah and England-based Tyler Adams.

The winger Weah, who recently moved to Marseille from Juventus and Adams, a Bournemouth midfielder since 2023, recalled their youth soccer in the Red Bulls Academy. Weah had previously played for Queens club Blau Weiss Gottschee.

“A lot of people don’t know Tyler is the one that brought me to the Red Bulls,” Weah said. They told different versions of how their BW Gottschee-Red Bulls Academy games ensued. To Adams’ claim that “We smacked them” — Weah said:
