Austin FC’s youth program, one of MLS’s youngest academies, was put into motion under the supervision of Tyson Wahl in 2019, two years before the club’s first MLS season in 2021, with a U-14 team in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Wahl, Austin’s Academy General Manager, has since overseen its expansion to four MLS Next teams (U-13, U-14, U-15, U-17) and a U-12 program, and Austin FC II debuted in MLS Next Pro this season.
