Omaha. This not-so-little town (metro population of 1 million) on the Great Plains, nestled alongside the Missouri River, is not-so-quietly getting the attention of the soccer world.

Attention comes in the name of the USL League One defending champion Union Omaha. USL League One, the third tier of American professional soccer, is going into its seventh season. This is year No. 6 for the Owls, who in five years have three Players’ Shields and two championships.

Union Omaha is the only team to have two titles. It beat Spokane Velocity 3-0 for the 2024 championship in November in Omaha’s Werner Park, in front of a league-record final crowd of 5,849.
