Weston McKennie continues to be the USA’s hottest player in Europe while Tanner Tessmann is also enjoying a strong run. Alex Zendejas returned with a golazo (on his birthday!) but his injury concerns continue.

🇺🇸 Weekend review: Big 5 European leagues

The weekend included wins for Brenden Aaronson (Leeds), Chris Richards (Crystal Palace) and Tanner Tessmann (Lyon).

🇺🇸 Weekend Review: England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England:
Sky Sports ratings (1=low; 10=high)
7 Chris Richards (Crystal Palace), (1-0 at Brighton)
7 Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United), (3-1 vs. Nottingham Forest)
Antonee Robinson (Fulham), on the bench (1-2 vs. Everton)
Tyler Adams (Bournemouth), injured (vs. 1-1 Aston Villa)
Gaga Slonina (Chelsea), did not dress (3-1 at Wolves)

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Leeds Live on Brenden Aaronson. “The quieter of Leeds’ attackers. Did well to beat Ola Aina and Elliot Anderson with the former lucky not to be booked. Subbed for the returning Dan James.”

⤴️ Crystal Palace moved from 15th to 13th place — and nine points clear of the relegation zone — thanks to a 1-0 win over Brighton that ended its eight-game Premier League winless streak (12 games in all competitions).

↔️ Leeds United’s win kept it in 16th place with a 6-point cushion above the relegation zone.

⤵️ Fulham, which kept Antonee Robinson on the bench, has dropped from 7th to 10th-place in the last two weeks. Ryan Sessegnon started at left back for Fulham.

🇺🇸 Weekend Review: France 🇫🇷

Tanner Tessmann had another strong outing as Lyon extended its Ligue 1 win streak to six games and leap-frogged Marseille into third place.

🇫🇷 France:
L’Equipe ratings (1=low; 10=high)
6 Tanner Tessmann (Lyon), 90 minutes (1-0 at Nantes)
5 Folarin Balogun (Monaco), Sunday, (0-0 at Nice)
2 Tim Weah (Marseille), 90 minutes, (0-5 at Paris SG)
nr Mark McKenzie (Toulouse) sub-11 minutes, 1 yellow card, (0-1 at Angers)

🇫🇷 L’Equipe on Tessmann: “One chance from a difficult angle that didn’t come to fruition (22nd minute), a lot of activity in his role as a playmaker, and quite a few aerial duels won (3 out of 3). The American sometimes lacks speed and precision, but he’s starting to master this position.”

🇫🇷 L’Equipe on Weah: “Started on the right flank as always for the big occasions, he may have turned in his worst performance in an OM shirt. At fault on Paris’s opening goal and often poorly positioned, he struggled badly to contain Bradley Barcola, who wore him down physically with repeated runs. Moved one notch higher in the second half, he still made more careless mistakes (90th minute), and his only shot was blocked (60th).”
