1. Ethan Horvath was selected to the UEFA Champions League team of the week for his play in goal for Club Brugge in its 4-0 win at Monaco –his first start for the Belgian club in the group stage. Other players on the UEFA team were Brugge teammate Hans Vanaken as well as Filipe Luis, Carlos Soler, Juan Bernat, Kostas Manolas, Toni Kroos,Riyad Mahrez, Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski and Gabriel Jesus.
2. Minnesota United goalkeeper Matt Lampson was named thewinner of the 2018 MLS Works Humanitarian of the Year award. Lampson started the LampStrong Foundation in 2013 to raise awareness for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma — which he was diagnosed with at theage of 17 and has since beaten. The foundation provides support to cancer patients and families in all the stages of cancer treatment and recovery and funds proven cancer researchers. He has hostedchildren suffering from cancer along with their families at MLS matches for the past six years. Lampson has played 60 games in his seven-year career with Columbus, Chicago and Minnesota United.
